"Our thoughts are to the individual as our art is to the community"

FEATURED ARTIST

One of the main goals we have as a committee is to shine the spotlight on our local artists. We believe that our town is FULL of amazing talents that are hidden in plain sight. We love our artists with the store fronts and big businesses and catchy themes! But we also love our stay-at-home mom that paints beautiful oil paintings while her children sleep, or the retired grandfather that finds peace in carving wooden figurines for his grandchildren to play with, and even the recently graduated individual that has a studio apartment chocked full of drawings, paintings, embroideries or ceramics because their creative flow just won't stop! We want to shine the brightest light on all of our artists new, old and yet to be seen!

Avenir Light is a clean and stylish font favored by designers. It's easy on the eyes and a great go-to font for titles, paragraphs & more.

I am a hand embroidery artist. I have been hand embroidering almost my

entire life as I learned as a child at my grandmother’s side. I love to use two

strands of embroidery thread and my hands to express myself in color and

texture. For me embroidery is a meditation process and done organically. I

start with a simple design and then let my needle take over making all my

pieces a one-of-a-kind piece. I hand draw and hand embroider each piece

one at a time.

I love to make what I call my tangled thread designs. They are simple

designs which I add to by organically choosing just the right color from (you

guessed it!) a tangled mass of beautiful colors. They are winding and

turning and colorful just as life is.

I am also known for my primitive work ornaments and my love of French

knots. French knots give my work texture, and my favorite thing is watching

people hold my heart ornaments and the way they touch them and enjoy

the texture.

I have been featured in several group shows in the Capital Region. I

currently sell my work at Valley Artisans Market in Cambridge, NY and my

Etsy shop. Debs Tangled Stitches (www.Etsy.com/shop/

debstangledstitches). I create hand embroidered framed art, pillows and

ornaments. I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy creating it.
